I’m looking seriously at a 2005 Westport 112 and want to build a proper pre-purchase inspection list before I bring in a surveyor.

I’m specifically after what early owners and engineers actually find: hydraulic steering, genset raw-water routing, stabilizer condition, and structural checkpoints.

Direct experience: Commissioned and serviced four sample hulls of this model.

On early hulls, inspect the hydraulic steering unions and pull covers to look for weeping at the ram fittings. Check raw-water routing for chafe and verify stabilizer seal service intervals.

Structurally, focus survey time on systems and machinery access rather than assuming a generic model-wide defect.
